A GREAT GIFT IDEA

Recently we put together this gift for our cousin. 

Ours consisted of a bug vacuum, a straw for sucking up whatever little creepy-crawlys you happen to find, a container, a pair of tweezers, and a half-gallon jar covered with cheesecloth.

    Although almost any container will do, a jar would probably be your best option.  A cheesecloth           covering is great because it gives the animal a lot of air, and you also don't have to poke holes in all

MANTIS OR WALKINGSTICK

The walkingstick is one of God's greatest creations when it comes to camouflage. They are related to mantids, but in most ways they are as different as a goblin and a fairy princess. For starters, walkingsticks are herbivores, and mantids are carnivores. Another is that walkingsticks have much longer, thread-like legs than a mantis does. Mantids have shorter, stronger legs for catching and holding on to their prey, while walkingsticks have no need of this

 Do you see the difference?

 One more difference, walkingsticks are much slower than mantids, as shown in the video above.

But one thing that they both have in common is camouflage. Depending on color, they can sit on a twig    or flower without being noticed at all! How amazing Gods creation is!!!

OUR PET ALIEN

A Praying Mantis is almost always a preying mantis.They are excellent hunters, with their long back legs and flexible tail help to maintain balance, for when any other small insect such as a bee, fly, small moths or very rarely small birds happen to pass by! We found this male Praying mantis at Fort Loudon near our house, took it home and started to feed and water it, in other words we had our own pet alien.

At first we were all a little bit afraid to even touch it, but finally we overcame our fear and started holding it all the time!    

We were outside one day and found this green Chinese Mantis in our garden. We held it a little and set him free again.
